Sonic Unleashed (Thoughts in a Nutshell)

Note: This is just my opinion

Oh man, I remember when this game was first released and how all these "professional reviewers" just ripped it apart because it was Sonic the Hedgehog.  Well then IGN, you may use your shitty playing skills as an excuse to call a game shit, but that doesn't stop the fanbase from liking this game (Especially as time went on).  And you know what?  I agree with the fans.  Unleashed is memorable in so many ways.  From the opening intro cutscene, to the gorgeous visuals, and thrilling level design for Daytime Sonic.  Like Sonic Rush, It's a blast to play.  However, there are some downsides.  Aside from the unnecessary sun and moon medal collecting, you have the Werehog.  Now it wasn't terrible gameplay wise, but the levels drag out for way too long (Especially in the Wii version) all with a repetitive battle theme.  But then there's Eggmanland which in my opinion, is the worst final level in any Sonic game (Yes, even worse than End Of The World from 06).  It's too long, and has a lot of bullshit thrown in (FUCK THE BOBSLEIGH PART, AND FUCK BALANCING ON THOSE DAMN PIPES!).  Aside from those issues though, I can still think Unleashed is a great game.  It might be a little tough, but I still think it's better to give it a try than to give blind hate.

I may recommend the HD version, but the Wii version does have it's ups as well.

I still love the game despite all of its flaws, but when this game came out, it was my first Sonic game I ever played. When I first laid my eyes on Sonic Unleashed for the PS3 back in 2008, I was only eight or nine years old, and I had no idea or clue who Sonic was. So this was my first real time playing Sonic. When I started playing the game, yeah, it was a little hard at first, but the more I played it, the more I grew to love it. I never really minded the flaws, especially since Sonic Team worked really hard on the game and did the best they could, and I was and still am extremely grateful for what they did.

But, while I was playing the game as I a kid and having fun with it, I had no clue there was an ungrateful fanbase and cruel critics trashing the game and giving it even lower scores than Sonic 06, especially IGN and this one reviewer called Cygnus Destroyer, all of whom trashed the game I held so dearly to my heart. When I found out about this years later, it honestly broke my heart to see how cruel and ungrateful everyone was and still is (especially Cygnus Destroyer, he was a complete dick towards Unleashed) towards it.

But, Unleashed has gotten a better reputation over the years and people are now giving it the love it deserves. And it’s even getting requests to be ported to PCs and even modern consoles. And seeing all this gave me an idea: What if I could completely rebuild/remake the game from the ground up, but with modern technology? Like, make the game using Unreal Engine 4 or 5, since those engines are capable of making gorgeous visuals like the ones in Unleashed originally, and make the environments more beautiful looking than ever, take notes of what some people complained about, like making the sun and moon medal collecting and the Werehog levels completely optional, and just basically improving everything else like some technical and frame rate issues as well.
